Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Astrotechne collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects information when you use the website, accounts, chart tools, reports, subscriptions, add-ons, email features, and related services.

Astrotechne is operated by Opertus Systems. Opertus Systems was founded in California, maintains an office there, and currently conducts business from Utah.

Astrological data can be personal. Birth date, birth time, birth place, coordinates, time zone, relationships, notes, and client records may reveal sensitive context about a person. We treat this information carefully and use it only as described here.

Information We Collect

  • Account information, such as name, email address, password hash, verification status, sign-in provider identifiers, session data, and account settings.
  • Astrology workspace data, such as people, client records, chart names, birth and event dates, times, places, time zones, coordinates, house systems, zodiac settings, chart outputs, reports, saved places, relationships, tags, notes, and exports.
  • Public contribution data, such as charts, historical events, biographical details, locations, source notes, citations, tags, corrections, comments, ratings, provenance metadata, contributor metadata, and related records you submit to a public research database.
  • Billing information, such as Stripe customer IDs, subscription IDs, price IDs, payment status, billing code redemptions, renewal dates, and payment metadata. Stripe processes full payment card details.
  • Communications information, such as transactional emails, support messages, email preferences, unsubscribe tokens, outbound email status, and delivery events.
  • Location information, such as location search queries, selected places, saved geocoding results, and approximate or precise browser location when you choose to allow browser geolocation.
  • Usage, device, and log information, such as pages used, feature interactions, request metadata, diagnostic logs, cookies, local storage, analytics events, IP-derived security signals, and error details.
  • Information from service providers, such as authentication providers, Stripe, Resend, hosting and infrastructure providers, analytics providers, and geocoding providers.

How We Use Information

  • Provide, personalize, calculate, render, save, export, and synchronize charts, reports, settings, people, clients, events, places, and account features.
  • Create and manage accounts, authenticate users, verify email addresses, reset passwords, and protect sessions.
  • Process subscriptions, add-ons, coupons, billing codes, renewals, receipts, failed payments, refunds, disputes, and billing support.
  • Send transactional emails, product notices, account messages, unsubscribe confirmations, and service updates.
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, rate-limit sensitive endpoints, debug failures, monitor service health, and enforce terms.
  • Improve Astrotechne, test features, review quality, understand usage, and plan product development.
  • Conduct astrological research as described below.
  • Publish, index, moderate, analyze, correct, cite, export, preserve, and build datasets from public research contributions.
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests, disputes, security incidents, or potential violations.

Astrological Research

Astrotechne may use private workspace chart inputs, chart outputs, timing data, report structures, feature usage, and related service data for internal astrological research, product development, quality review, statistical analysis, and publication of de-identified or aggregated findings.

We do not share personally identifying information from private workspace records externally for astrological research. Names, email addresses, phone numbers, direct client contact details, account identifiers, payment details, and private freeform notes are not shared externally as research data.

External research outputs based on private workspace records must be aggregated, de-identified, pseudonymized, or otherwise structured so they do not reasonably identify you, your clients, or other people in your private workspace. If you want to opt out of non-essential research uses connected to your account, contact us.

Public Research Contributions

Public research contributions are different from private workspace records. If you submit information to the public research database, the submitted content may be public, searchable, indexed, reviewed, edited, copied, cited, exported, analyzed, included in datasets, incorporated into research, and retained for archival or research integrity purposes.

Public contributions may include historical event data, chart or event metadata, birth or death details, locations, citations, notes, tags, ratings, correction history, contributor metadata, and other information you choose to submit. Do not submit private information about living people unless you have consent, a lawful basis, or the information is already lawfully public and appropriate for this research context.

If you request correction or removal of a public contribution, we will evaluate the request, but removal may be limited where the contribution has already been published, copied, cited, backed up, transformed, merged into a dataset, or incorporated into aggregated or derivative research.

How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personally identifying information from private workspace records externally for astrological research. We share information only in the limited ways needed to operate Astrotechne, protect the service, comply with law, complete actions you request, or publish public research contributions you intentionally submit.

  • Public research database: public contributions you intentionally submit, which may be visible to other users or the public and may be included in research datasets, indexes, exports, summaries, citations, and publications.
  • Service providers: hosting, database, email, analytics, logging, geocoding, authentication, payment processing, storage, security, and support providers.
  • Stripe: billing and payment processing, checkout, customer portal, subscriptions, invoices, fraud prevention, disputes, receipts, and tax or compliance support.
  • Authentication providers: account sign-in and identity verification when you choose a third-party sign-in method.
  • Email providers: transactional emails, magic links, password resets, receipts, subscription notices, and delivery tracking.
  • Geocoding providers: place search, reverse geocoding, time zone lookup, and location labels.
  • Legal and safety recipients: regulators, courts, law enforcement, advisors, or affected parties when required by law or reasonably needed to protect rights, safety, security, and integrity.
  • Business transfers: as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections for personal information.

Cookies, Analytics, and Local Storage

Astrotechne uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for sign-in, preferences, density and theme settings, guest workspace state, panel layout, saved local selections, security, analytics, and service operation.

Google Analytics may run in production when configured. The current analytics setup requests IP anonymization. Browser or device settings may let you block cookies, clear local storage, or limit analytics, but some features may stop working correctly.

Client and Third-party Records

Astrotechne lets users store information about clients, linked people, relationships, and other third parties. If you enter someone else's information, you are responsible for having an appropriate basis to use it and for honoring any privacy, consent, confidentiality, professional, or legal obligations that apply to your work.

If your information appears in another user's workspace, contact that user first when possible. You may also contact Astrotechne, and we will evaluate what we can do based on the account relationship, law, security, and the nature of the request.

Retention

We retain information for as long as needed to provide Astrotechne, maintain accounts and subscriptions, support users, preserve security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and support legitimate internal research using de-identified or aggregated data.

Deleted information may remain for a limited time in backups, logs, billing records, security records, and records needed for legal or operational reasons. De-identified or aggregated research data may be retained after account deletion when it no longer reasonably identifies a person. Public contributions may be retained longer for archival, citation, dataset integrity, and research integrity purposes.

  • You can update many account, astrology, billing, email, people, client, chart, and report settings inside Astrotechne.

Children

Astrotechne is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Do not create an account or submit information if you are under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can review it.

If you use the service from another country, your information may be processed in the United States or other places where our providers operate. Those places may have privacy laws different from your location.

State Privacy Notices

Depending on where you live and whether a privacy law applies to Astrotechne, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, obtain a copy of, or opt out of certain processing of personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.

Astrotechne does not currently sell personal information or share personally identifying information externally for astrological research. If our practices change in a way that requires additional notices or opt-out methods, we will update this policy.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy as Astrotechne changes. The updated date shows when the current version took effect. If changes materially affect privacy rights or how we use personal information, we will use reasonable efforts to provide notice.
